West Wichita Kiwanis to host Governor at luncheon tomorrow

Brownback to tour, speak and answer questions from KMH residents, guests

WICHITA, Kan., July 26, 2011 — Gov. Sam Brownback is scheduled to speak Wednesday, July 27 at Kansas Masonic Home. The Governor will be at the senior living center at the invitation of West Wichita Kiwanis Club, which meets at KMH. Prior to a noon luncheon with Kiwanis club members, the Governor will tour the campus with newly appointed KMH CEO, Matthew Bogner, and then speak to club members, residents and guests; a question and answer session will follow. The Governor’s team, which will include Matt Goddard, assistant to the Governor, is expected to arrive shortly after 11 am; the speech will be held in the KMH auditorium on the west side of the campus at 12:30 pm. “Our residents are very interested in having an opportunity to have their questions answered and to share their thoughts about the Governor’s ‘Road Map for Kansas’,” says Jill Laffoon, KMH director of marketing.

“I suspect there will be a few that want to check up on how the Governor feels that Shawn Sullivan is doing in his new role, as well!” Sullivan, former executive director at KMH, joined Brownback in Topeka in January, taking on the role of Secretary for the Kansas Department on Aging. The Secretary will not be attending Wednesday’s event, instead he will be home with wife Jenny and their new daughter, Claire, born Monday.

Former KMH administrator Matthew Bogner to lead the historic senior living campus culture change from institutional to resident-focused care

New administrator for KMH Health Care Pavilion also named

WICHITA, Kan., June 30, 2011 — The board of directors of Kansas Masonic Home (KMH) announced today that Matthew Bogner, administrator of the KMH Health Care Pavilion, has been named chief executive officer, effective immediately. Bogner joined KMH in 2008.

Replacing Bogner as Pavilion administrator is Cole McKinney, previously KMH director of Independent and Assisted Living (Manor and Towers). Before joining the Kansas Masonic Home in 2010, McKinney was household coordinator and administrator for Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, Kan.
